Turning is the machining process by which chips are removed. It consists in the rotation of a piece and in the linear motion (or rotary motion) of the used tool, which with its sharp side enters the piece and remove all excess parts. The turning machine is the used device and the turning changes according to the surface you need to obtain. The turning can be:

  • plain
  • conical
  • cylindrical
  • helical
  • shape turning (for the more complex contours)

According to the tool position, we have the following ones:

  • External turning: machining of the external side of the piece
  • Internal turning: machining of the internal side of the piece

The bar turning machines can reach diameters ranging from 6 to 70 mm and the secondary turning machines can reach diameters ranging from 20 to 150 mm.
The machined materials are the following ones:

  • Copper and copper alloys
  • Aluminium
  • Brass
  • Bronze
